Ghana vs CAR: Joseph Painstil withdraws from Black Stars spuad due to injury

  • Post category:Sports

The Black Stars winger Joseph Painstil has been granted permission to return to his club in Belgium after sustaining an injury.

The Genk winger sustained the injury in the last period of the Belgian Pro League match against Anderlecht on Sunday. He was subsequently substituted as a precautionary measure after assessment by the medical team.

Paintsil was deemed to be fine and fit enough to train but has now been forced him to withdraw from Thursday’s Africa Cup of Nations qualifier against Central African Republic.

The player will return to his club immediately for further tests before rehabilitation begins.

That leaves Chris Hughton with 24 players to prepare for the match on Thursday.

They include:

Goalkeepers: Lawrence Ati Zigi, Abdul Manaf Nurudeen, Richard Ofori

Defenders: Alidu Seidu, Kingsley Schindler, Stephan Ambrosius, Joseph Aidoo, Alexander Djiku, Nicholas Opoku, Baba Abdul Rahman, Gideon Mensah

Midfielders: Abdul Samed-Salis, Baba Iddrisu, Edmund Addo, Andre Ayew, Elisha Owusu, Mohammed Kudus, Ransford Konigsdorffer

Forwards: Inaki Williams, Jordan Ayew, Antoine Semenyo, Ernest Nuamah, Osman Bukari, Jonathan Sowah

The Black Stars will hold their final training session at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium this morning.
