The family of Stephen Ntim, National Chairman of Ghana’s New Patriotic Party (NPP), has suggested he temporarily relinquish his duties to focus on his health. His sister, Hon. Adelaide Ntim, stated the chairman is currently unwell and unable to participate in party activities effectively. The family believes a period of absence from his role would allow him to fully recover and prioritize his well-being.
Speaking to Asempa FM after the family communicated their concerns to the party, Hon. Ntim emphasized the need for her brother to be relieved of his responsibilities. She explained, “We have to ensure he takes good care of his health.” She added that while the party had not formally addressed the family, concerns were mounting regarding his ability to fulfill his duties.
When questioned about the potential appointment of an acting chairman, she deferred to the party’s decision-making process. “We have brought a letter to the party, and it behoves the party to decide on whether they should appoint a new chairman,” she stated. The NPP now faces a critical decision regarding its leadership structure during Chairman Ntim’s period of illness.
